The last few months have been a roller coaster for me. It would be easy for me to say certain events have been good or bad, truly though they are all just part of the rich tapestry of life. They give shape and character to my voyage. It has been neither the best of times nor the worst of times. It has just been moments.

Whenever I want to judge a situation, I remind myself of the Chinese Farmer. The story is based on the powerfulness of the word maybe, and I have used the word maybe to ground myself in many situations recently.

I am also not going to lie to you and say that I was able to do this well. There were definitely moments when I had to rely on outside help to help me keep myself on the correct path. Your path to excellent mental health will never be linear and will often have a staggered approach. Do not be harsh to yourself if you make missteps. Consider them part of your voyage, like the Chinese Farmer.

No situation is good or bad, only part of our journey in life.

It is such a simple sentence. One that is much harder to live by than you would imagine. Try and spend a day not being judgemental about what happens to you or others. When there is a situation with others, try acting with empathy, not sympathy.

It will bring you a much better, clearer understanding of your life. You will also be shown how many judgemental calls you make and how ingrained it is in you from a young age to make them. You will need to be willing to have awkward conversations, as not everyone will be ready not to describe situations as good or bad. It might make things more difficult for a while, but the longer-time benefits will make you glad you did.
