I have a few more mindfulness tips for you when you are at a skatepark or wherever you want to ride that day. You can use these tips in your everyday life to help you combat any anxious or nervous moments.
- Ground your feet. Sit on your seat, and place your feet flat on the ground. Inhale for three seconds, and exhale for three seconds. Pay attention to your breathing while also feeling the ground beneath your feet.
- A moment of introspection. Give yourself a minute to think about the session or what you are doing today. Go through your emotions in silence. Ask yourself, “Why do I feel this way?” Be curious about what emotions riding your bike is bringing you.
- Be still. Slow yourself down to understand better where you are in that moment. Focus on one thought, for instance, what you want to land, and think about it for as long as you can and allow yourself to chill out.
- What are those sounds? Listen to what is happening to the world around you. Pick any seven noises you can hear and identify them.
- Name things. To make you more aware of your surroundings, name three things you can see, two you hear, and one you can feel.
